Details: Job: Customer Service Hospital/Facility: 370-Central Carolina Hospital - Sanford, NC Shift Type* : Flexible If other shift, specify : as needed, primarily 2-10pm Shift begin time: Shift end time: Enhances the overall experience of patients and families in the Emergency Department by providing appropriate hospitality services and improving communication. Duties include, but are not limited to: - Greets all patients and family members as soon as possible upon arrival, introducing self and explaining role in enhancing their comfort and communications, and keeping them informed on ER flow process.- Makes continuous rounds of all patients in the Emergency Dept. and waiting room, and their families, making contact with each one at least once every hour and keeping them informed on wait times.- Inquires about their comfort and offers assistance as appropriate: Example, may obtain blanket or additional pillows for patient, something to drink for family members. Do NOT give patient anything to eat or drink without permission from the patients nurse or physician. - Functions as an informational resource person for patients and staff, enhancing communication between clinical staff and patients by accurately relaying patient concerns or questions to the clinical staff, and informing them when patient does not appear to fully understand or expresses concerns.- Assists patient with outside communications as necessary, such as contacting family members or clergy for patient when requested. - Informs the Charge Nurse of any patient or family member that is upset about any aspect of their care.- Works closely with Environmental Services staff to maintain the cleanliness of the Emergency Department and waiting areas and restrooms. - Interacts with all guests in the Emergency Dept. including but not limited to patients, families, law enforcement, EMS, other hospital departments and employee's in a helpful, empathetic and supportive manner at all times.- Applies AIDET in all situations and reinforces proper guest relations with every employee she interacts with, serving as a role model.
